April 2005

Lexington, KY – Dave Johnson has been asked by the University of Kentucky’s Law School to speak on horse evaluations at its upcoming symposium on equine law, May 2 through 4th, 2005.

Mr. Johnson will be speaking on the attorney’s first need of actually finding the right expert appraiser to evaluate the situations in their case. In addition, the lawyer’s search must take into account the expert’s abilities at communicating thoughts to a jury.

The attorney, who may or may not know much about the horse business, must rely on the “expert/appraiser” to aid the case to victory; not easily done with someone not totally familiar with the case specifics and industry in general. Also important, are the expert’s abilities to deal directly with the legal profession in a knowing way.

While the topic is quite broad, Mr. Johnson intends to speak about the prioritized list of items necessary to qualify the lawyer’s expert during voir dire.
