Biography

David D. Johnson operates NORTH AMERICAN EQUINE SERVICES, LLC as its President and CEO. The company, based in Phoenix, Arizona specializes in litigation consulting, related activities and horse appraisals for the legal and insurance communities and has been doing so for the past 30 years throughout North America.

Mr. Johnson’s background includes over 40 years as a professional horse trainer specializing in performance and breeding stock. Together with his wife Kathy they have trained many horses and riders to compete at the national level, and served as the Junior Jumper Team Coaches for USA Equestrian's Zone 8 from 1985 through 1989 at the prestigious Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg. They also served as the coaches for the United States Equestrian Teams' West Coast participants at the 1987 Olympic Festival in Raleigh, NC.

First licensed as a judge by USA Equestrian, INC. in 1969, Mr. Johnson holds large "R" status in Hunters, Jumpers, Hunter Seat Equitation, and Hunter Breeding; (He recently resigned his "R" status in the Arabian Division). The Canadian Equestrian Association (CEF) also licensed Mr. Johnson as a Senior National Judge in several divisions.

His recent judging assignments include the 2001 Paint World Horse Show, Ft. Worth, TX., the 2002 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Championships, Cazenovia, NY and the 2004 NCAA Equestrian Championships, Conyers, GA.

He is a past Vice-president of USEF, INC. Zone 8, and past member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Johnson chaired the Competition Standards Committee for 15 years. The Committee develops show and safety standards for over 2500 US competitions.

Mr. Johnson served the International Arabian Horse Association as a member of the Judges and Stewards Education and Evaluation Commission, the Professional Horseman's Equitation and Hunter/Jumper Committees. He is also a long standing member of the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association and the United States Trotting Association.

Mr. Johnson is a former Adjunct Professor in Equine Marketing & Ethics at Salem International University, Salem, WV.
